On Tuesday Lucy from leap then look came in and did a workshop, we worked on projecting our images(making them 3d or making certain points of the photograph stand out). We also worked on exploring and experimenting(out of our comfort zone)we did hand movements behind sheen surfaces and other surfaces. How's photography a ritual ?.... photography is done on a everyday basis, you might not realise it, but it is, taking selfies everyday is a ritual. Lucy told us that people normally focus on performance, sculpture, filming when taking a photograph,Lucy wanted us to experiment, we made props for our hands then took pictures behind different materials, we also took a video of our hands.I had to think of different hand movements and where to stand so you only capture the hand and nothing else. We used torches, gels ,cable ties, and we used the sheen that was hanging up. I made still portraits during the workshop.during the day the thing I enjoyed the most was going outside and throwing the sticks up in the air, the thing I thought was most challenging was when we had to make the videos of our hands moving, it was challenging because I felt uncomfortable because i was doing something i haven't done before and I didn't see the point.
Out of all the pictures we took in pairs i really like these two because of the way my hand is positioned and the different materials in front of my hans make the pictures look even better. i like these pictures because my hand is the only thing in focus along with the material, i like how the objects behind are out of focus, but you can still see what they are.
